I found my windshield noise source and fixed it.

As part of replacing the valve cover gasket on an n55, one has to remove one of the wiper arms and then move the firewall trim out of the way. Looks like the plastic trim at the bottom of the windshield slipped out of place and was causing the noise.

Fix: no need to remove the wiper arm since there are wide rubber seals around the wiper actuator shafts. Just push down on the trim piece (towards engine) to compress the rubber seals then push the upper edge of the trim against the glass and let it slide up into place. There's a square channel in the trim that fits into the bottom edge of the windshield.
