The power output is really underwhelming. I had waited impatiently for the original 1 series. Then I found out it was a heavy little tank and wasn't that much quicker than the 335i.
So I patiently waited for the M version thinking that at least it might have enough HP to jump in. Yet again I was disappointed. Unfortunately I currently live in an area with crappy roads and no real fun twisties to drive. So about all I can hope for is enough HP/TQ to make up for the lack of fun roads.
So maybe they'll finally put some real HP in this package or shave a few hundred pounds off of it. I wanted something that was pretty quick and small to drive. This doesn't look likely to be much faster than a 135i. They should have bumped up the HP/TQ considerably or put the little porker on a diet to differentiate it more from the plebian models.
I can't easily bump up the HP/TQ numbers with aftermarket help as BMW is very glad to cancel your warranty in my area.
