It's not pointless to put on a catless downpipe. I think Vishnu claims like 10-15 at the wheels untuned. I have the catted version on my car and it reduces spool time. Besides, it sounds wicked. I didn't necessarily want to tune my car yet and I like the exhaust tone. Aside from the cel light I haven't seen any downsides.
