The 18x8 et 35 will have 16mm more inner clearance and extend out an extra 4mm. Which looking at the picture might be what you have. If so the 235/40R18 should fit. I thought about running that set up but I have a 135 and didn't want to downsize the rear tires.

As noted above running a square set up is better for tire life, wear & handling. Staggered is for looks or if you need more rear grip. With an et35 wheel though the 245 is probably too wide. The 235/40 should be ok and hopefully won't rub on the outter fender.

Are you sure they are 18" wheels? The M2 style wheels are 19"?
The 4 wheels are 18x8, with a few more width in the rear tire I think looks better, other inconveniences are the currently tires, are friendly with the curve rash, the tire are too stretched to be 225.
