Thanks for the info, I think the Mazdaspeed group used an extender that screwed into the downpipe then the O2 screwed into that...just took the sensor out of the gas flow so it worked, but didn't throw a code.
I'll read up on it - good to know that the mid pipe cats pass the visual inspection.
