weird cause I was wondering the same thing and was going to post this exact question ...
I saw ecs tuning's post on e46fanatics. I love these wheel and think they would look absolutely hot on a 1.
Based on my research (not experience) I think this setup might be possible but would definitely be far from ideal on the street. I think the fronts will be the biggest problem. These will be 9mm further out than the most aggressive setup I've seen on the board so far (which is a 8.5 et 35). Let me know if you go this route because I'd be very interested to see how this turns out.
If this option doesn't work I'm thinking about going with the ESR-4 wheels. Offsets are a little bit more 1 friendly (8 et 35 and 9 et 43)
