OEM hood only lifts at 130mph+, there's a video of that somewhere. This is due to the hood being much heavier. I remember it being around 50pounds.

Aluminum hoods would be cheaper to make yes but the tooling required to make them and expertise costs alot more money than carbon fiber tooling right now which is why alot of companies don't deal with Aluminum except the OEM's.
But you can buy this hood or any hood for the E82 platform without Aerocatches just be prepared for it to lift above 70mph. Eventually if you keep driving with it lifting at 70+ mph the stress will crack and the hood might fly up and either hit your windshield or just go behind you.
