You sure it’s coming from under hood? If so have someone sit it car at idle and run up the rpms while you keep your head nearly the engine to see if you can isolate the noise. If that doesn’t work try a long wrench extension and use it as a mechanics stethoscope and touch it around and listen, that usually works well.

I wouldn't testify in court, but it definitely seemed like it was coming from in front of me.
I didn't do get on it, on the way to work this morning. But it started up just fine, no weird noises or anything, and drove just the way it normally does.
