I removed the diff to reseal it and was surprised to find the fluid to be severely contaminated and to find 3 bolts rattling around inside. The leak was actually due to a crack in the rear cover where the bolts had been flinging against it.
The good news, MFactory responded promptly and positively and instructed me to send the unit back to Synchrotech for warranty repair. Synchrotech's teardown confirmed the the defect was covered by warranty, and the unit is on its way back to me.
