I have the same issue with my 128i E88, random ZERO POWER and if I just wait an hour or overnight it works again great. Behind the glove box is the fuse box. Check out the back of it for red battery cable where it goes in. My wife’s car had same issue and it was sparking randomly cutting out power....you could see where it was burnt out.
It was a recall in USA I think but never in Aus. I took it all apart and showed the bmw dealership mechanic and had it done as part of recall.
