It is more close to a straight through design. It has a vacuum flap on the longer pipe which when closed make the exhaust flow as in a resonated chamber ( it goes through the 2 or 3 bog wholes in the middle)

It is more restrictive and is more chambered design.
I never tried the 135i muffler but i speak from what i searched. The pipes of the 135i are slightly bigger (i read it somewhere) also i have spoken to a member here that installed a 135i exhaust on an n52 with headers and said it was a great combo and a middle ground muffler
