When I got mine from bmw and done a check on the s/n, it matched to an early m4 box

the old 135i box is light years behind the new box in terms of smoothness, cold shift and general driving. The difference is like jumping out of a car into a truck

Our gearboxes have a dry sump type system in them which uses 1.5 litres max and lubricates the gears better the the oil filled original gear box that runs 4 plus litres
Ended up doing the swap. Cost me $1000. Noticed zero differences between the smoothness of shifting the trans.
