We actually got some Gluhwein from Aldi last year, it was pretty good.
I'm excited to show her your pictures later so she can re-live some of those memories.
Yeah... I kind of found this old thread of mine today, so I decided to give it a "bump". I've been very lucky living over here in Germany and being able to sample the Christmas markets. I hear the Christmas Market in Chicago is also very nice and run by German venders.
My favorite Christkindlesmarkt is Nurnberg and Dresden and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Also Munich has some very nice ones too(I think six or so! Even one at the airport!!). But Nurnberg's is the ONE for me. Here are some pics from Nurnberg taken two years ago. I went last year... but for some reason I just did not take many pics.
Zwetschgenmännle
(prune men)... something that you only will find at the Nuremberg Christmas market are these little prune men figures. I always try to buy one or two each year. I think they are so classic.

You and your GF should consider visiting Germany for a Christmas Market. You won't be disappointed!!

Now, onto my pics...
All the following pics were taken at the Nuremberg Christmas market...
Zwetschgenmännle (prune men)... you can't eat these prunes! They are just for decorations.
Real chocolate made to look like tools, gears and hardware! I found this really interesting.
Marzipan... (that you CAN eat!)
The imfamous "Kunst Bunker" where the Nazi's hid some of the art that they had stollen. There used to be a sign next to the read doors... that read... The only Bunker tested by the 8th AirForce(Allied) with seven direct hits and it still stood! lol
