Only (real) way out of it is If you are with the US Military (or NATO) and you use a VAT form ($4 each) to get out of the German 19% tax.

or... when you leave the country AND you are hand carrying said item, you go to the airport early and have the friendly Zoll (customs) guys inspect you stuff/goods - they have a form and then certify that you are taking this item with you out of the country. Then once you out of the EU, you mail in this form with the ZOLL's stamps and MAYBE you get your tax money back in four months! I did that once for a Blaupunkt radio I bought back in 1999. Not really the trouble though for the 65 DM.

Denmark = 25% tax and the cars are the 2nd most expensive in the World, only Vietnam have the pride to have more expensive cars

Long story short, "luxury tax" (as we call it here) equals around 180% for all cars!!!! Meaning you can buy 3-4 cars in Germany (approx. 100 Km from my house) or anywhere else in Europe for the same price as in Denmark!

Just to be clear, same salary level as in Germany (I work for a German company )
