Maybe they don´t use lightweight materials, like plastic and aluminum on body panels and chassis components. They want leave room to lighter M2 (and save money)...like with 3-series. E90 got aluminum chassis components but F30 not(they were steel), but still F80 M3 has aluminum chassis components.
