Money no object I totally agree but those two cars are expensive and somewhat special. For me a daily driver should fun but practical. Mileage and maintenance are bad on those two. The MK7 GTI is fun inexpensive and looks cool yet practical. You can park it in the dirt lot at the kids soccer tournament and not sweat it. The Dual clutch transmission is as good if not better than bmw and more reliable too. The apple connectivity and screen is better placed and easier to use than bmws which adds to the daily enjoyment. So for full daily driving the GTI is a standout. I have owned both mkV and MK7. Steering feel aside the MK7 is much better I also recommend the cloth seats if you live in hot climate like me.
