Low mileage 128i with a manual.
You already know how to work on 90% of the car and it's far more reliable than the 1M or 135. They're comfortable, good highway cruisers, and way more fun on city streets than they should be. 24 mpg with mixed spirited driving is easily achievable. What's a better DD than that?
If you're spending low-mileage E46 M3 money, you might as well get a Civic Type R with a few thousand miles on it. You'll get the remainder of the warranty and an ultra-reliable, fun toy.
