Total pain the ass. They are closed now and can't return it until monday. They don't have another low mileage motor, so I will have to grab one with 90k miles. It's from a 2010 528i.

Sounds like an opportunity to give your son the motor of his dreams, which is either a N54 or N55 depending on whether you intend to change out the turbo(s).
