The dealer(Doncaster BMW at Bundoora) confirmed there would be a 2020 nav system update coming soon. Also confirmed the 2017 build is operating correctly. Saved $AUD155. They helped get the iPhone paired.
I was under the impression these cars new did not have run-flats. That may be false.
Solution to music was to buy a 1Tb portable USB hard drive, and plug it into the USB for the phone. It tucks neatly in the phone pouch thingy under the armrest. I now have all my music organised into folders -- Folk, Blues, Pop prior to 1980, Pop after 1980, Rock, Jazz, etc and works a treat.
