A/S will not work well in snow/ice in stock sizes, I'd still recommend a high performance winter instead of A/S, especially in the Midwest. IMHO I'd rather spend $$ for winters (probably less than the Pilot Sport A/S's) and have the added traction. A square set up is always preferred for winters, they also will allow for rotation front/back with a square setup.
