The "Performance Engine Option" you are referring to is officially known of the PPK2 (Power performance kit 2). This comes standard on the 135is and includes the PPK1 software as well as the aux radiator, larger fan, and maybe a couple other things I am missing. Maintenance schedule is different and BMW has included a warning/reminder in the form of a sticker placed in the engine bay.

It was available in 2012 on a standard 135i for the outrageous price of over $2,000.00
But, for 3 months starting around January of that year they gave it away for half price
Of interesting note the PPK2 lost a couple of horsepower going from the 2012 PPK2 option to the 2013 135is transformation.
