IF the oil (bottle) does not say "BMW Long Life 1 (LL1)" then that oil should NOT be used.
As far as I know... only "Mobil-1's european blend 0w40 LL1" (in the black striped bottle) has been BMW approved in North America. And also the Castrol oil that is sold thru BMW dealers nationwide.
