I had the update done at the same time the VANOS recall was being done. Completely stock 2011 135i here, and no burbles were heard after the update. Doesn't matter if I'm driving short or long distances, I haven't heard any burbles.
Good news is that the throttle lag I was experiencing is gone - I don't drive very often, so it might slip back into its old habits as others have mentioned, but so far I'm pretty happy with this update!
