PA and AL- stands for plastic or aluminum. Meaning if you're car has a plastic oil filter housing or an aluminum one.
Some N20 engines run a plastic oil filter housing. The oil filter has a rubber piece attached to the filter. The cap o-ring is much thicker too.
Having seen multiple techs I work next to not pay attention and toss the wrong filter and gasket on a plastic housing, let me tell you, it's not pretty. It pisses oil real quick.
