Their price point should be 45k - 55k, if not:
1) M3 is still in the 60k-70k
2) Porsche 911 - 60K-70K
3) Nissan GTR 70-80K
4) Audi R8 after that
If they miss the market value, they will lose potential customers. Besides getting 135i and spending 15K on mods, would get you 1M+.
Another problem is time delay they are putting into 1M launch, and then 2700 units for the test run. By the time they get into second year of the production, I am sure they will have competitors from other manufacturers in the 1 series market. If they want 1M to be a success, it will have to be more than 135i, but less than M3.
