I don't mean to bore people but all of this stuff, in this case the melding of consumerism and culture as realized in these gigantic edifices such as BMW Welt was anticipated and written about by the post-war generation of French intellectuals who came of age in the late 60's and early 70's. What and who we call Postmodernism and the philosophers such as Gilles DeLeuze, Jean Baudrillard, and particularly in this instance Guy Debord who in a book titled "
The Society of the Spectacle
" anticipated and predicted the joining of modernity and capitalism.
It is awesome to see this played out in reality rather than speculating about the ideas as fuzzy theory.
I should probably finish reading the book.
This philosiphy stuff is resulting in companies getting better at taking my money. Oh noes!!
Appreciate
