OP: I have found that flipping tires after every couple of events will make everything more consistent, and make tires last MUCH longer. When I say flip, I mean dismounting the tire, and flipping the inside to the outside. Then your passenger tire becomes your driver side tire, and vice-versa.

Rotating front to rear helps, but side to side does not really do anything, as your directional tire will be backwards (not a huge deal) but the outside edge is still the outside edge, and will continue to take the bulk of the abuse.
