How dangerous is meth (No, not ice, WMI)?

Okay, Given that one of my OEM turbos has shat its self, and I see myself owning this car for the (very) long term, my tuning goals have just changed significantly.

I'm looking to do a single-turbo swap on a daily-driver N54. Being a daily-driver, I'd like to still have the convenience of being able to pull into the gas station next door to fill up. ie. Rather than chase 600whp+, I'm tuning for pump fuel.

So, clearly with pump fuel, I'm going to be octane limited very quickly. ... and the obvious solution to that is to use WMI.

But, I've heard a few hardcore modifiers speak badly of WMI... so tell me.... Is it dangerous? What do you do to mitigate the risks? ... and what does the mod-list of a 'safely' tuned N54 that's near the limit of pure Pump or Pump + Meth look like?
