In the attached picture, when I took the original pads off, is this normal?

I don't think it is at all and it can probably explain why the car was shaking during braking. I dont have many years of experience and this being my first brake job by myself, I just wanted to ask more seasoned vets their thoughts on the condition of my original pads with 56k on them.
The only odd thing is that they look basically brand new. You must never use the brakes at all The crack wouldn't cause oscillations. That could be a warped rotor, or something as simple as an uneven deposit of pad material around the rotor (bedding the brakes would fix that). My car will do the same on the first couple hard stops on-track if I don't give the brakes enough of a chance to cool before parking back in the paddock.
