My former boss used a highly regarded Independent shop here that put his repairs at $5k. He took it to the BMW dealer for a second opinion and they had it covered for free through some random extended warranty. BMW of North Scottsdale has been pretty good to me for reasonable repair costs...and if anything goes wrong I can always complain to BMW. I asked if the $2500 included my "VIP discount" and he said no, and they'll work on it. We'll see.
Oh man, that sucks about the S2000! My previous Honda has 87k on it with only one issues, that Honda covered outside of warranty!
When I lived in the North Burbs of Chicago I used Golz Motors who was really good.
