Fender work is not always required to run 245's, although depending the the tire and how lowered the car is there may be rubbing.

I am running 8.5x18 ET 45 front and I need spacers to clear the spring perch from the tire (10mm.) You can avoid this by running shorter springs. I'm at -3.2* camber. I've pulled the fenders on the front. The tire is very close to the front bumper but it does not seem to rub.

On the rear I'm running BMW 261 style wheels, 8.5 wide with a ET52 offset and a 245 BFG r1. -2.2* camber. If I lower the car too much tires will rub on corner exit.
