If you do this, make sure the car is asleep before disconnecting the battery. That means opening the trunk and waiting for over 25 minutes and keeping your comfort access key away from the car. You'll know it's asleep when the start engine button light goes out.
I found out the hard way chasing the same comfort access issue and fried my FRM module. Luckily this is covered under extended warranty, but it was a hassle.
Turned out my handle was bad. It was warm to the touch on the front end of it. Now I have to actually press the remote button to open the door like Fred Flintstone. At least it's a first world problem.
