1 Series Fender Replacement? Difficulty Level For Novice.

Well its official, not even 1 month into ownership of my newly acquired 1er and here I am taking her into body shops for estimates. The girlfriend is still learning to maneuver her Wrangler out of the garage apparently, and well, here is the result:

It's looking like the entire fender will need to be replaced. Has anyone ever had their fender off? Is this something I can do myself? A reputable body shop quoted me $1,500 for an OEM fender replacement and blending to existing paint. Seems kind of steep, so I am considering sourcing a used fender from a salvaged jet black 1er, and just installing it myself. I already found a few locally in the 2-$300 range.

The other option would be paint-less dent repair – I found a “guy” who claims he can do it, but he wants $450. Not very keen on the idea of trying to reform metal, but I guess the benefit would be I don’t have to pull the fender.

Open to suggestions.

Thanks guys!

P.S. Ignore those heinous water spots, haven’t gotten around to polishing this thing yet.
