That's not the recommended rim width. That's the measured rim width. Tires in each given size have a predetermined wheel width used for measurement. This is designed to allow for consumers to compare tire measurements across brands (different wheel widths will yeild different tread width and section width). Tire rack is a good resource. You will find that all tires in 265/35/18 are measured on a 9.5" wheel. However manufacturer's typically have a recommended rim width range. Every spec I have pulled for a 265/35/18 tire has a recommended range of 9" to 10.5". Nankang is not listing a recommended range at the link above but I think it's a reasonable assumption to say that their recommended range would be consistent with every other manufacturer's
