As I understand it the 1er DCT steering wheel paddles aren't removable from the actual switch mechanism. I would love to have one to experiment with but they're expensive and I only have one car. That's why I requested pictures of the switches removed from the wheel. I had mine out when I swapped steering wheels but didn't think to take pictures at the time.
I think the best bet would be to take a molding of the existing switch and then use some sort of plastic to build up a larger switch around the existing one (if that makes any sense).
I also think it would be cool if the + and - were back lit.
