It's not too bad. Apparently a lot of semi-pro racers use 1/2" birch...its where I got the idea.
The 4" version is about 9 lbs but I decided to cut it down to 3" so it is less now. I mounted it to the subframe and 4 points on the hard plastic "frame" behind the bumper. I did also mount the two "wing" outside points to the bumper cover but am using nylon nuts there so if something bad happens it shouldn't take the whole bumper cover with it. I'll post pics when I get finished, including the mounting points..
