The first thing I thought when I saw the 1M in Detroit was that the front wheel wells could house the back wheels to create a square setup. I think I was wrong. (See pics)
I flip flopped the front and rears tonight to see how the front looked. I backed it up and turned the wheel lock to lock while rolling slowly. Nothing rubbed but I got out and checked and I think the tire was about 3mm from rubbing the chassis or the little speed sensor box so there isn't much room for a different offset. Anyway, a race car with a ton of negative camber would probably suck these up nicely but I don't see it for a street car. The side of the car would require some mud flaps in front. The only M car that should have mud flaps is an SUV. I never thought I'd be able to say M SUV in one sentence.
The more I drive the car the more I want to leave the wheel/tire size alone. They really dialed the understeer out of this car.
