Runflats are irrelevant to the discussion.
Canadian and European BMWs use RDC with runflats. If it was unsafe, it wouldn't be set up as such on hundreds of thousands of BMWs produced for these markets.
You can easily change TPMS to RDC via coding and unplugging the TPMS module.
