The 128i's seem to be lasting a LONG time(100K miles). Many guys are on their original water pump. Most of the 135i guys seen failures before 65K.

But personally... IF I had a 128i, I would seriously consider changing the pump(and t-stat) as preventive maintenance - say by 80K or 85K miles.

Also... your old coolant(plus five years old) isn't doing your cooling system any favors as it gets more acidic and corodes your system(radiator/hoses/t-stat/pump/engine block).
