Good chance he chose it due to its collect ability. The 1M continues to be desirable because of it's low production numbers, not necessarily because it is such a great car. So far most tests and driving impressions have given the M2 way more praises. As a matter of fact it finished dead last in a 4 way comparison against all 2-seriers models.

He said he prefers it to M2 period. It's on the Twitter feed. And some reviews looking at value and daily driving have picked 228 correctly because at inflated prices 1m is terrible value. Finally I'd you see carfection review for example, they love M2 but in end reviewer says he would also take 1M and get a workout. It's not for everyone and there are many better cars out there which everyine agrees but 1M still has something special that many still find appealing.
