I think it's mostly MINI and some of the smaller 3 cylinder engines in the 1er/3er's over here in Europe. Maybe also the new B-series engines(?) but a quick Google search didn't really show me any plastic OFH's.
All of our N-series(N51,N52, N54, N55) engines have a
metal oil filter housing(
AL in the diagram). Only the filter housing cap is plastic.
