Maybe on a newer BMW or MINI there is a right and wrong way to install the filter... but I really do not see how it is the car on any 135i.

Yes, as
juldozer posted, there is no wrong way to install the HU816X on our cars. It is only on the cars that need the ADBV added. The ADBV must be installed in a certain direction of course to prevent oil backflow and dry starts.
