I managed to follow the break-in for the full 1200 miles. In fact, I think I may have kept it up until 1250. It turned out not to be nearly as bad as I thought. The acceleration was still very good at the 4000rpm limit. Furthermore, even at 80 mph, the rpm's are around 3000rpm in 6th gear.
Even now that I am well out of break-in, I hardly ever have the opportunity to redline the car. The opportunity presents itself maybe 3-4 times per month.
