I did about 1000 miles of very nice, relaxed driving when I first got the car. The dealer told me no break-in was needed, but I did it anyways. Now that I have 2700 miles on the car (4 months and 5 days old) I barley go even close to 5000 rpm’s.
It never hurts to go through the break-in process.
