I did this last year and yes, it was very quick. I think it was something like 3 bolts to remove the housing! The N54 cars may have some turbo-related crap in the way. On the N52 you can get right to the bolts provided you have the right tools. I think they are e-torx bolt heads (I forget the size, but you can find it with a forum search).
