If they think they can sell for more, they will hold out. Some geographic regions have more/less competition and may not discount as much.

I walked from an Audi because their discounts aren’t as high and their MF and residuals were awful making their leases WAY worse than BMW’s. Ended up with an X5 and I ‘m super happy.

Just depends on a lot of factors. Also, the GLEs are selling like hot cakes so less of a need to discount. Someone else will come along soon.

When I was shopping my X5 I had dealers all over the place but no one started off very competitively. Had to negotiate pretty hard to get the discount I got and others have done better. One dealership wouldn’t go below 6% discount. Volume vs margin - different approaches. You can probably find a dealer that has a model you are looking for, just have to look and be willing to expand your search radius.

Maybe try a dealer a bit farther away?
