Most likely corroded control module caused by not properly closed bulb cover. A 1-series weakspot due to a structurally over-deforming seal design and the unfortunate location of the control module in the lowest point of the headlight body. The headlight body itself does not need to be replaced unless they feel uneasy about sealing off the new module properly. The body has no significant metal parts, thus corrosion is unlikely. You should ask why replacement is required in your case.

DIY replacing of this module involves above entry level coding skills.

Make sure you triple check the seals (or turn them over) after every access.
