Necro'ing this thread. Vespa, are you still around on here?
I've been having what I thought was belt squealing lately, but in light of recent developments and reading this post, I think it may not be the belt system.

I got a SES light a few days ago and concurrently found that when I accelerate hard, after about 3000 RPM, it sounds/feels like the boost leaks out violently (a fart-like sound) and power disappears, like I had let off the gas.
I had it read, as I was already getting some work done. I was told the diagnostics indicated a bad valve cover diaphragm. In light of reading this, I think that is likely and maybe PCV valve as well.
Can this all be fixed by replacing the valve cover, since the diaphragm is integral?

FWIW, I am in a 2012 N55 135i.
