BMW N54 135i E82 2008 Engine block rebuild overhaul DIY

I am now in the process of rebuilding my engine block. Shooting videos to show the process (for those who might be interested). Will add links to YouTube channel once completed (should take over a month).

The long story short…

Had oil leaks problem (bad, very bad).
Corrected a few:
- Recently changed oil filter housing seal (few months ago)
- Oil cooler flange seal at oil filter housing
- Valve cover seal
- Cylinder head gasket was done about 4 years ago

All those fixes helped. But others were still to be done. I remember how big of a job it was to take out engine and transmission. Somehow, I was trying to avoid going there again…

Initial thoughts: I have to replace crankshaft seals (both) and oil pan gasket. Since these are great amount of work, I have decided to check engine compression. All cylinders are within a 5 psi window, between 110 - 115 psi. Engine compression test should be above 10 bars (145 psi).

So, in the end, I'd rather taking engine out, rebuild the block. I'll have it in hand to fix seals and gasket issues.

I have open a Youtube Channel “Quebec DIY” to cover the entire process.
If you are interested in following the complete project on videos, just subscribe and you’ll get posted as new videos are released.
Videos start with numbers (in the order that tasks were performed).
