No, I do not have a TPMS sensor in my spare. But that would not confuse the system. The sensors are only activated when the wheel is spinning(on the car). Having a spare with a TPMS would be ok in the trunk. I just did not feel like spending extra money for my spare.

Btw... I've never had to use my full size spare. But two years ago while in Italy with some BMW friends(Sella 1.0 trip) one of our guys experienced a little bit too much power on over steer... he broke his right rear tire and wheel. I lent him my full size spare. This is the real reason why I carry a full size spare. You don't want to be limited to "just" a 120 mile range(and only 45 mph) speed. Having a full size spare is the only way to travel with full peace of mind.
